
CHU (President: Kim, Seong – Hun) and Jeju Food and Wine Festival Corporation (Chairperson: Moonsun Jung) signed on an agreement of academy industry co-op to produce professionals in cooking and catering at CHU campus on March 11.
The agreement describes both parties will cooperate to enhance exchange between academy and industry and to host JFWF events in order to promote Jeju¡¯s culture and tourism and foster experts on cooking and catering.
President of CHU, Kim, Seong – Hun said, ¡°I hope CHU can not only train global professionals, but also contribute to Jeju¡¯s culture and tourism through the practical exchange with JFWF Corporation. We will support JFWF to be established as a world- famous food and culture festival.¡±
On the other hand, JFWF is designed to promote tourism in Jeju and contribute the outstanding quality of Jeju¡¯s agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors and promote global culinary talents. Provided by JFWF Corporation and Jeju Tourism Organization, the first festival will present various food events every night from May 12 to 14. Especially on May 13, famous chefs will give showcases with Jeju¡¯s local ingredients in Halla Convention Center at CHU. Besides, Gourmet Week is planned to introduce Jeju¡¯s hidden savory restaurants from May 5 to 14.
Moonsun Jung, Chairperson of JFWF said, ¡°I am glad that CHU culinary school students have a chance to work with world famous chefs and see the showcase in person through the events.¡±
The participating chefs include Roy Yamaguchi and Alan Wong, world famous chefs and Co-Founders of Hawaii Food and Wine Festival, Josiah Citrin of Melisse, the best restuarant in LA by Zagat with two Michelin stars, Masaharu Morimoto, a famous Ironchef practicing in the US
