The Confucius Institute (Director: Shin Euigyeong) at CHU (President: Kim, Seong - Hun) has been named a 2015 Confucius Institute of the Year among 1500 candidates and received the award from Mme. Liu Yandong, vice premier of the People¡¯s Republic of China in Expo Convention Center in Shanghai, China on December 6, 2015.

Confucius Institute Conference, also referred as an educational Davos forum, has been held in China every December, and especially this year, it welcomed 2300 participants from worldwide Confucius Institute directors and university presidents from 134 countries. In the conference, the Confucius Institute at CHU was honored to be a 2015 Confucius Institute of the Year among 1500 candidates.

Director Shin Euigyeong of CHU Confucius Institute said, ¡°CHU Confucius Institute is providing various Chinese language programs and cultural events, and playing a significant role in cultural and academic exchange between Jeju and China. It will try to train Chinese proficient professionals for Jeju¡¯s global competition and exchange.¡±

Since its opening on April 4, 2009 as the only Confucius Institute in Jeju, the institute has provided a distinctive Chinese language and cultural education in cooperation with Chinese prestigious Nankai University. In addition, its opening ceremony surprised the audience by having Chairman Li Changchun, the fifth rank in Communist Party of China, as a guest.
