Confucius Institute (Director: Shin, Eui-Kyung) invited Student Performance Troupe of Tongji University, Shanghai, China. They showed a magnificent performance at Halla Art Hall located in Halla University at 2:00 PM on Thursday October 8 2015.

Confucius Institute at Cheju Halla University has annually invited excellent Chinese performing art troupes recommended by Chinese government and presented a complimentary show to Jeju locals. This event encourages the locals to understand and enjoy Chinese art and culture.

In this year, the institute invited Student Performance Troupe of Tongji University (a university supervised by Chinese Ministry of Education and located in Shanghai, China). The troupe presented 15 different shows such as Chinese folk music ensemble <步步高>, Chinese Opera, chorus, Kunqu, dance and traditional musical instruments, all of which demonstrated the beauty of Chinese art and culture to the audience of 900 local residents, including the sophomores from Jeju High School, the freshmen and teachers from Nohyung Middle School, Halla faculty and students.

Shin, Eui-Kyung, the Director of Confucius Institute, said, “Although there are various exchanges between Korea and China, the very first step begins with the sympathy that we build through the exchange of art and culture. Confucius Institute at Cheju Halla University will try harder to provide various opportunities of cultural exchange.”
