On March 27, 2015, CHU hosted its annual Welcome Concert for new students at the Halla Art Hall. The theme of this year's concert was Drums of Halla. There was also an Opera Aria Concert this year. The Drums of Halla performance has been a feature of welcoming concerts since 1999, and also is feature at the annual Halla Festival. Dance and musical performances centered around the theme of the horse, which is the symbol of CHU, and students were especially enthusiastic about the special rhythmic performance of the drummers. The Opera Aria, which included an interpretative section, contributed to the formation of lasting memories for this year's new students. They were treated to explanations of how to properly interpret and enjoy operas. President of CHU, Kim Sung-hun, gave a welcoming speech in which he said "it is as important for you to develop your character as it is to learn new skills and acquire technical knowledge." The annual welcoming concert is becoming a representative event of the university.
